About Us 

One of our objective is creating a rapid development within sports sector through generating active disciplinary general public, by the development of sports facilities, in order to improve mental development of every ethnic group & raising the sports women and women of central province up to the national level & international level and improving their sports skills, developing the training facilities and infrastructure facilities. Other objectives are providing necessary sports equipment and appliances for motivating the public for sports sector and organizing sports competitions and training programs frequently for the improvement of the sports sector through enhancing the quality of sports activities and giving methodical scientific training to the sportswomen and sportsmen those who are reaching towards the highest talents within the central province.

Creation of affirmative young generation that is necessary for the Socio Economic Development of Central Province by strengthening them physically and mentally is done by the youth affairs Unit of our ministry. We also introduce the vocational approaches to minimize the unemployment level by improving the National solidarity among the youths, developing the job oriented opportunities through Socio Cultural Development, improving language skills and vocational trainings.  As well as our only target is to strengthen the young generation so as to face for the challenges of developing world, through vocational training which is targeting the domestic and foreign market. Assisting the youths to develop their leadership skills by identifying their talents is also taken under our objectives.

Through the women’s Development Unit of the ministry, they provide the qualitative assistance for socio Economic life of women by emerging their personal abilities using regional resources with economic management, for a balanced sustainable Economic Development. Economic Entrepreneurship Development, social development, development of “Liyasewana Centers” and capacity development are done by the women’s affairs unit, at the same time they strengthen women with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and technological knowledge in order to provide the better contribution towards Economic process by creating a better women’s generation that converging on real world. Also contributing to the production, economic savings, encouraging &appreciation the skilled –women and providing them opportunities to show up their own skills, identifying the difficulties faced by women and aiding them in finding solution for them by conducting the counselling programs, development of “Liyasewana Centers” to improve the performance of multitasking activities regionally. The supreme support is provided for shaping central provincial women’s lifestyle providing concessionary services to the women those who are finding solutions for the mental and legal problems in their day to day life, at the same time providing training opportunities on job creation for the unemployed women, promoting marketing programs in support of entrepreneur females and celebrating the national and international days separated for women are also done by them.

Central Provincial Rural Development Department is one of the developments administrated under the ministry. It leads the objective of creating a high qualitative developed village through building up cooperation and self-reliance empowering the rural community by strengthening the rural developmental organizational structure.

Our aspiration is creating a sustainable village filled with self-reliance through the development program of productive villages offering project programs for “Gemi Shakthi Jayagrahana” societies, rural women’s development centers program ,strengthening rural development domains, income proceeds program, capacity development of the officers in departments, strengthening rural development societies & strengthening regional domains uplifting standard of living among rural community, development of rural infrastructure system, vocational training development creating high spirited women through women’s development centers.

Our duty is protecting the handloom industry while uplifting the standard of living among textile community in Central Province towards the economic development by providing quality handlooms with highest professional standards using both modern and traditional methods. Also product promotion, market promotion, skills development and human resources development, physical resource development, protecting traditional technical styles in traditional handloom textile production, producing textiles according to the personal demand of the clients, promoting customers to consume the handloom products, conducting training & research programs for the handloom textile industrial expansion, providing assistance, counselling services & technological assistance to the private sector, forming new jobs opportunities for the unemployed rural community are consider as our main duties.

As an organization deals with the industrial development and business promotional services through highest industrial development in central province, the mission of the industrial development and business promotion department is providing the highest contribution for the provincial sustainable development through conducting technical and financial programs for the identified vocational requirements for the development of infrastructure facilities, creative skills, technical sectors and entrepreneurship.

Also handicraft industrial development, handicraft sales promotion, vocational skill development, capacity development are considered as the main subject areas. Empowering minimum of 300 entrepreneurs within the central province those who are already working in business flied and those who wish to engage in through international entrepreneur development programs, evaluating 100 of selected entrepreneurs in different scales within the central province once a year, aware at least 200 of entrepreneurs in  different fields to introduce the new technology for the central province, participation of at least 30 entrepreneurs for foreign tours to transfer  information and market promotion within central province, improving monthly income of  the handicraftsmen introducing the export market with new technology and latest fashion designs by selecting at least 200 of handicraftsmen spread throughout the province, selecting at least 02 training centers that control under the department to establish  the National Vocational Qualifications once a year and developing their infrastructure facilities, empowering the  level of the entrepreneurs or directing them as workers in the industrial field by providing vocational training at least to the 150 young people  on timber work and metal work under the higher technical training programs within central province, selecting & training at least 340 unemployed young people under the carpentry technological trainings once a year  and directing them to the job market are among our objectives.
