About the Women’s Development Unit
As the foundation of the society & each family women provide incomparable contribution in keeping peace of the family along with its economic management and operational activities. Therefore empowering women would be a social empowerment. According to the population statistics of the Central Province the population of women is 52.56% (Department of Census & statistics –Year 2012). Hence it’s very important of directing & imitating women towards the economic development field.
According to the development process sources of Sri Lankan, a priority has given to widespread women’s vocational skill development and it’s also shows a necessity of the women’s contribution for the socio economic development process since women have taken the 52% amount out of the total population. Therefore it indicates more attention on directing the women for the contribution of socio economic development. Also there is a time requirement on consideration of necessities of the rural women’s population as it is exceeds more than 72% of population.
Therefore women affairs unit conducts their programs in order to overcome those objectives identified by the ministry of industries & sports.
